Roy's Double Eagle
Roy's Double Eagle
acrylic on shaped panel
39 x 35 inches
Jim Sweazy, 2013
Roy Rogers always preferred the "Double Eagle" pattern for most of his boots in the movies, but these were his favorite. Made for him by Nudie Cohn (Yup, the guy driving around Hollywood in the convertible Caddy with steer horns on the front), Roy wore these until Dale started yelling at him to toss them out.
This painting was made using acrylic metallic glazes. Makes for a very modern look at a worn out old boot.
